菲尼克斯 is a city located in the state of Arizona and is known as the “City of the Sun”. 菲尼克斯 has a diverse population of 1.5 million. The History of the City
Phoenix was first settled in 1868 by John W. Swilling and his party of settlers, after Swilling saw the potential of the area. He had been traveling through the Salt River Valley and noticed that there was a great deal of water that could be harvested for farming. Swilling and his group built a series of canals that followed the old Hohokam canals.
Swilling had a strong background in the Civil War and was a Confederate soldier. He envisioned that the new city would be named after Stonewall Jackson. However, Swilling and his party were unsuccessful in naming the new settlement after the great Civil War hero. Swilling had to settle for a name that was less likely to cause offence, so he named the new town Phoenix.
Today, the City of Phoenix encompasses 520 square miles and has a population of over 1.5 million people. It is the fifth largest city in the United States.
Its cosmopolitan feel is evident by the variety of shops, restaurants and other entertainment venues throughout the city.
Downtown Phoenix is home to the largest number of attractions and events. From museums to parks and more, there is something for everyone to enjoy.
Roosevelt Row is a lively district in downtown Phoenix with award-winning restaurants, coffee shops, art galleries and local boutiques. It is also one of the city’s most walkable neighborhoods with plenty of free parking nearby.
Grand is another vibrant neighborhood in downtown Phoenix with many bike-friendly eateries and plenty of fun activities. The community is friendly and the area is known for its First Fridays events that bring in thousands of visitors each month.
The museum has a huge collection of guns, artifacts and other items from the old west.
During World War II, Phoenix became an important city for military manufacturing and the city grew rapidly. It was a major center for the distribution of military supplies to other cities and also became a center for the internment of Japanese Americans during the war.
As a result, many of the buildings in the City of Phoenix were constructed with concrete rather than stone. This was an inexpensive material to use as a building material and it is still used in construction to this day.
There are many historical buildings in the City of Phoenix that can be visited, but some of the best places to visit are the Phoenix Public Library and the Phoenix History Museum.
